“Vòlli, e vòlli sèmpre, e fortissimaménte vòlli.” – A famous quote from Vittorio Alfieri, Italian dramatist from the 18th century, it is translated as “I wanted, I always wanted, I extremely intensely wanted”. It was included in the letter he wrote in Siena to Raineri de’ Casalbigi, on the 6th of September 1783. In such letter, the playwright and poet expressed his complete devotion to the cause of becoming a famous author after the acclaimed performance of his first play, Cleopatra.
